Rumors flying about bomb threats to Air France… If the FRENCH aren’t safe, we’re all in trouble http://bit.ly/7Nz42
SM aggregators are messed up. Some work well with FB Fan Pages while others work well with just Facebook. Some play well with Tumblr and others don’t like Twitter.
It looks like some clients will maintained with HelloTxt and others with Ping.fm – Nothing but a massive headache.
Why are SM aggregatators giving me so much trouble lately?
Man’s house broken into twice in same week by same man… 2nd time gets caught by owner with a gun. Great 911 tape! http://bit.ly/12JwB5
What Happened to Dissent is Partiotic?
It takes a pretty classy reporter to pick a fight with a guy holding his kid. Even classier to try and tell him he’s an idiot when he hasn’t even finished his first sentence.
Stay classy CNN!
Winter 1860/Spring 1861 or Spring 2009? States may up the ante on the Federal Govt siting 10th Amendment.
WAKE UP CALL: TEXAS GOV. BACK RESOLUTION AFFIRMING SOVEREIGNTY
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry joined state Rep. Brandon Creighton and sponsors of House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 50 in support of states’ rights under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
“I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Gov. Perry said. “That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”
Perry continued: “Millions of Texans are tired of Washington, DC trying to come down here to tell us how to run Texas.”
A number of recent federal proposals are not within the scope of the federal government’s constitutionally designated powers and impede the states’ right to govern themselves. HCR 50 affirms that Texas claims sovereignty under the 10th Amendment over all powers not otherwise granted to the federal government.
It also designates that all compulsory federal legislation that requires states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties, or that requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding, be prohibited or repealed.
Tenth Amendment:
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
Ted Nugent explains in blunt language the freedom associated with firearm ownership. How would society benefit from even less restrictions on firearms, unrestricted conceal carry, and some old school justice.
Many anthems and tunes are being wielded around for the tea parties. This one struck a chord with me.
Being a history buff, a lover of Celtic heritage (I am about as Irish as Napoleon) and a father often intersects in strange places. My boys and I love to sing to the Pub music that speaks of things too “mature” for them, but make them clap and laugh anyway. My oldest son, William loves “By the Rising of the Moon” in particular — his moon song. Not exactly PC and definiety not something Dora / Diego would sing. Well, on the car ride over the weekend, I listened to the tune in light of our current political situation.
Have a read, but I recommend the version by The Clancy Brothers, but if you can hear it live by anyone – do it! (I wish I could hear it from Flogging Molly or the Pogues of old.)
And come, tell me Sean O’Farrell, tell me why you hurry so?
“Hush a bhuachaill, hush and listen”, and his cheeks were all aglow,
“I bear orders from the captain:- get you ready quick and soon
For the pikes must be together at the rising of the moon”
At the rising of the moon, at the rising of the moon,
For the pikes must be together at the rising of the moon
“And come tell me Sean O’Farrell where the gath’rin is to be?”
“In the old spot by the river, quite well known to you and me.
One more word for signal token:- whistle out the marchin’ tune,
With your pike upon your shoulder, at the rising of the moon.”
At the rising of the moon, at the rising of the moon
With your pike upon your shoulder, at the rising of the moon.
Out from many a mud wall cabin eyes were watching through the night,
Many a manly heart was beatin, for the blessed morning light.
Murmurs ran along the valleys to the banshee’s lonely croon
And a thousand pikes were flashing by the rising of the moon.
By the rising of the moon, by the rising of the moon.
And a thousand pikes were flashing by the rising of the moon. At the rising of the moon…
All along that singing river that black mass of men was seen,
High above their shining weapons flew their own beloved green.
“Death to every foe and traitor! Whistle out the marching tune.”
And hurrah my boys for freedom; ‘tis the rising of the moon”.
Tis the rising of the moon, tis the rising of the moon
And hurrah my boys for freedom; ‘Tis the rising of the moon”.
Well they fought for poor old Ireland, and full bitter was their fate,
Oh what glorious pride and sorrow, fills the name of ninety-eight!
Yet, thank God, e’en still are beating hearts in manhood burning noon,
Who would follow in their footsteps, at the risin’ of the moon
By the rising of the moon, By the rising of the moon
Who would follow in their footsteps, at the risin’ of the moon.
For my Good People Day shoutout, I choose my wife, Nicole!
I confess that I wasn’t following Gary this time last year, but I have to say this idea is spectacular. We all go around fretting over people/situations that have “wronged” us and never enough about the people have done right by us.
Sure, some people may say, “oh, how uninspired, his wife,” but that simply means you don’t know her. I can go on and on about “love of my life” “biggest fan” and “best friend”, but let me instead give three of the countless reasons why I spout on about her…
College: 1998 Dropping Secondary Education Major (Giving up on Being a Teacher)
To say I love history is one of the biggest understatements possible. I thought I was destined to be the best high school history teach I could possibly be, but the only problem was that the public school system doesn’t really put much emphasis on history. So, I was faced with a situation where I (in youthful foolishness) sparred with an administrator while I was still student teaching. Out of the Education program I went.
I chose to pursue my degree in history, minoring in political science and writing. Through those “what are you going to do for a job” times she never lost faith in me and never once criticized me on the decision. She stood by me as my best friend – encouraging me that I made the right choice.
11 years later… she’s still encouraging and inspiring me as a business owner.
Spring, 1999: Graduate School in Washington DC
My undergrad diploma was fresh in my hands and I wanted nothing more than to continue on to Georgetown for Graduate School. This is something we discussed at length. Nicole still had a year left in school in Wisconsin. Would we stay together (we’d been dating for almost three years) and try it over long distance? Would she come out to DC after graduating? Yes to both. She always indicated she wanted to be together – even if that meant moving east.
Never did go, by the way, but the fact she was willing made me know that this one was for life.
2006: Leaving My Day Job to Take My Home Biz Full Time
History is a huge part of me, but my passion has been discovered in branding and creative design. I had been doing freelance work and building a client base since 2002. Finally, the break came that I was ready to make the leap from my prepress job at a commercial printing company to Signalfire.
Again, we discussed this at great length. Weighed options, projected costs and fretted over the “what if’s”. But the time came to decide and I put in my notice. We had an eight month old son, mortgage, car payments, bills, and all of the factors that weigh every couple. She backed my play, more than that, she enthusiastically supported me (even if I knew she had huge concerns).
She cheered me on as I got off to a start. Encouraged me through the rough patches and some close calls. As our little home business grew from me in the basement to me leading a team from the office – she still supports me (even with another boy a year later). She’s my biggest cheerleader, soundest counsel and best critic.
I raise my glass to my wife, Nicole!

Good People Day 2009!
Good people day is something I started last year as a way to get people to “call out” amazing people and really take the time to do it in a blog post instead of a wall comment or a tweet! This video is mine and I hope you do a blog post or video as well and leave a link on my comments so I can watch or read it!
here is a link to last years explanation of what good people day is!
